Solar Flare
But compared to the quakes in cosmos these are nothing. There are other kinds of quakes on our solar system. Moon has quakes induced by the tidal forces of the earth. Sun also has quakes. Sun quake is the most powerful seismic event in solar system. They are caused by enormous explosion called solar flares.
Sun Quake
Inside sun there are huge current of gas, as they move they generate magnetic field. These field rise up and loop over the sun. When these loops break they explode. The explosion can reach 100 of thousands km high. As the loop explodes billions tons of hot gas comes back crushing into the surface of the sun, Causes the sun to quake.
In 1998 small solar flare that created a sun quake that was 11.3 on Richter scale. That was 100 times more powerful than larges quake recorded on earth.
